Greg Abel is now the Chief Executive Officer of Berkshire Hathaway. This is a change for the company.

The change happened in January 2026. Warren Buffett stopped being in charge of work. He was in charge for than sixty years. Now Greg Abel is the one running Berkshire Hathaway. Warren Buffett is a famous investor. He was the boss of Berkshire Hathaway, for a long time.

Warren Buffett, who people call the Oracle of Omaha is still the Chairman of the Board. He makes sure everything stays the same while he gives the daily leadership work to Abel. People knew this was going to happen for a time. Warren Buffett had already said that Abel would take over after him. So a lot of people were watching to see how this big change would work out for the company. Buffett and Abel are important to the company. The change from Buffett, to Abel is one of the leadership changes that people have seen in a long time. Warren Buffett and Abel are still working together.

Greg Abel is a man from Canada who works in business. He started working at Berkshire Hathaway a time ago back in the early 1990s when he joined the energy part of the company. Over time Greg Abel moved up. Became the boss of Berkshire Hathaway Energy. At Berkshire Hathaway Energy Greg Abel showed that he is very good at making decisions about money running things smoothly and helping the company grow in the long run.

In the year 2018 Greg Abel got a job title he became the Vice Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway. As Vice Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway Greg Abel is in charge of all the parts of Berkshire Hathaway that’re not insurance businesses. This new role made Greg Abel the person who will probably take over the work of Berkshire Hathaway, from Warren Buffett.

Abel is in charge of a big company now. This company has its hands in a lot of things like insurance and railroads and energy and making things and stores and brands that people know. Berkshire Hathaway owns some well known businesses like GEICO and BNSF Railway and a lot of other companies that make things or provide services in the United States and all around the world. The company has a lot of money saved up which’s good because it gives them options but it is also a big deal for the people in charge to make smart decisions about how to use that money. Berkshire Hathaway has to be careful, with its money.

People who watch the market think Abel will keep doing things the way Berkshire Hathaway always has. This means he will let the people in charge of companies make their own decisions. They just have to follow the rules and be careful with money. Abel is not well known as Buffett.. Experts think Abel is very good at running things. This makes him a good choice to be, in charge of all the companies that Berkshire Hathaway owns. The world is getting more complicated. This is a big job. Berkshire Hathaway has a lot of companies and Abel has to make sure they all do well.

Warren Buffett has said some good things about Abel in the past. He thinks Abel is very good at using money to make money and running companies the right way. When Buffett says things like this it makes investors feel better. They think that when Abel takes over he will keep doing things the way Berkshire Hathaway has always done them and that is a thing. Berkshire Hathaway will still be Berkshire Hathaway. That is important, to investors.

As Greg Abel begins his tenure as CEO, global investors and business leaders will closely watch how he balances continuity with evolution. His leadership marks the start of a new chapter for Berkshire Hathaway — one rooted in its storied past, yet focused firmly on long-term stability and sustainable growth.
