Deepinder Goyal, the person who started Zomato and was the CEO is still an important person in the food-tech and internet world in India. He decided to leave his job as the CEO of Zomato, which’s a big change for the company. Deepinder Goyal built Zomato from a website that helped people find restaurants into a big company that is listed on the stock market and does many different things. Even though Deepinder Goyal is not the CEO of Zomato anymore he is still committed, to Zomatos goals and the direction that Zomato is headed in the term.

Zomato was started in 2008. It became a big name in food delivery dining out restaurant reviews and business to business supply solutions under the leadership of Goyal.

Goyal was known for making decisions when the competition was really tough especially when the food delivery market in India was growing very fast.

He made some choices and took some risks like dealing with big discounts and getting the company through the tough times of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Goyals way of leading Zomato was to make decisions that might be risky but he always thought about what would be good for the company, in the long run.

The change from being the CEO is seen as a step in how the company is run, rather than Goyal stepping back from his duties. Goyal has said times that he is still very committed to what Zomato is trying to do. As the founder of Zomato he is still much involved in deciding what the companys products should be like what the company culture should be and what the companys main goals are. At the time he is letting a team of other leaders handle the day to day running of the company. This change is similar to what’s happening at other companies that were started by their current leaders, where the leaders are sharing their responsibilities with others to help the company grow and be more stable. Zomato is doing this to make sure it can keep growing and be a company, in the long term and Goyal is still committed to Zomatos mission.

When the person in charge of a company that was started by its founder changes, people who invest money in the company take a close look. These investors want to know if the new person, in charge will do a job of making sure things get done spending money wisely and making sure people are doing their jobs. For Zomato the main goal is still to make money work well and grow in a way that will last. Over the few years Zomato has focused more on making money from each thing it sells used less cash and made its work easier. All things that Deepinder Goyal has been working on to make Zomato better. Zomato is still working towards these goals and Zomato wants to keep getting better.

Deepinder Goyal has made an impact on the startup world that goes beyond just money. He has been very open about what it’s like to start a business being honest and dealing with tough times. Deepinder Goyal often shares what he has learned from his mistakes the pressure on his health and what it is really like to build a big company. This honesty has helped people see leaders in Indias startup world as people and has shown other founders how to talk to the public. Deepinder Goyals openness has had an effect, on startup culture.

As Zomato enters its next phase, Goyal’s transition signals maturity rather than uncertainty. The company now operates in a more disciplined, outcome-driven environment, where leadership depth matters as much as founder vision. Deepinder Goyal’s legacy as CEO is firmly established, and his continued involvement ensures that Zomato’s strategic compass remains aligned with the values and ambition that defined its rise.
